The duo collaboration of Marcus Wärnheim and Jonathan Bäckström is the fruit of a long friendship and musical companionship. As intimate as a confidential conversation, their music unfolds with precision and presence in their very own carefully constructed musical universe. Utilizing the extended sound palettes of their instruments through breath, noise and consonance, they invite the listener to an intense listening experience. Their debut album ett was self-released in October 2025. The tour is financially supported by the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland.
Marcus Wärnheim is a Swedish reed player based in Amsterdam, active as a performer in the local and international underground. His artistic output is primarily based in a genuine curiosity of sound, an embodied instrumental practice and a fascination for the absurd. In recent years he has been preoccupied with acoustic solo performances, close knitted collaborations as well as trans-disciplinary and site specific work.
Jonathan Bäckström is a Finnish double bassist and composer. He works within the broader spectrum of jazz, free improvisation and contemporary music. During the span of ten years, he has worked extensively as a side musician and freelancer both in Finland and internationally. With his compositional work, he is blending written material with improvisation, aiming to create a microcosm that explores the relationship between performer and composer, fostering an environment of listening and refelcting.
“Bäckström and Wärnheim employ an array of extended bowing and breathing techniques that help them blend their ethereal, dissonant, and microtonal multiphonics into one, otherworldly sonic entity.” -Eyal Hareuveni, salt peanuts*

tAngerinecAt is the project of Zhenia Purpurovsky — producer, composer, classically trained multi-instrumentalist, poet and sound artist with 35 years of musical practice — and Paul Chilton, sound artist and multi-instrumentalist. Both are based in Wales. They met in Ukraine, where Paul lived for nineteen years. Their music is a ritual that sneaks up on you: visceral, unclassifiable, evoking the apocalyptic gravitas of Philip Glass, Jocelyn Pook and Ryuichi Sakamoto, the emotional depth of Bachar Mar-Khalifé and Maxim Shalygin, the cinematic intensity of Son Lux, and hammering industrial electronic beats of Gesaffelstein intensity. Music of freedom and empowerment that rose from the bare realities of life.
“Their extraordinary music is as engaging and beautiful as it is dark and undefinable.” neilho27
